Squabble Between Neighbors Leads To Shooting In MD Apartment Complex: Police

A beef between friends and neighbors in Howard County nearly turned deadly for a teen who is facing a host of charges, police say.

On Wednesday, Aug. 2, the Howard County Police Department announced that a 17-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a shooting in the 3100 block of Burgess Mill Way in Ellicott City late last month.

According to investigators, officers were called on Monday, July 31 to investigate reports of shots fired and found bullet holes and projectiles inside an area apartment unit.

It is alleged that the teen, who lived nearby, threatened an acquaintance and fired several shots, though no one was injured. He was located by investigators and charged with:

  • Attempted first-degree murder;
  • Assault;
  • Reckless endangerment;
  • Multiple weapons offenses;
  • “Related charges.”

No information about the Columbia native’s next court date has been released by the police.
